Australia runs out of bees

Sydney. Droughts are becoming more severe in Southern Australia, so the government has begun to take new actions, due to agricultural exports have fallen by 22% during the last 12 months. Beekeepers have been the most affected.

It’s a nationwide problem. Honey production has decreased as much as 70%. Beekeepers claim the issue affects the whole country. The drop in honey production is a global concern as bees cannot go through winter without honey reserves. And if there is not honey for bees, there would not be for consumers either, so the product price will rise up.

High temperatures and heatwaves affect blooming thus disrupting the bees’ natural cycle. Pollen is essential for the hive to reproduce and without pollen, bees are unable to survive.
